WINGS OF FREEDOM is more than a game — it’s a voice. A poetic call for justice wrapped in folklore, flames, and fierce resistance. Inspired by real struggles in the Amazon and other forests around the world, this is a tribute to all who protect the Earth — and a warning to those who exploit it.

The studio behind the Iara game deserves a standing ovation and a heart full of admiration — they turned legend into living, breathing poetry. Every pixel feels like it carries the soul of Brazilian waters, every sound echoes like an ancient song calling us home. And Iara… oh, Iara! As if her natural enchantment wasn’t enough, she can even transform into a little owl — a symbol of wisdom, mystery, and night-bound vision. It’s as if she’s telling the world: “I can sing, I can guide, I can see in the dark what others cannot.” A touch of magic, a breath of Brazilian spirit, and a legend that now also soars.
Thank you so much for playing Wings of Freedom! 🙏
It truly means the world to see someone dive into this project and share it on Twitch and YouTube. Watching your reactions and your journey through the game gave me so much joy and motivation to keep developing this world further.
💬 About the Boto bug – First of all, sincere apologies for the hiccup! There’s a known issue where the Boto’s cutscene doesn’t trigger unless the player walks precisely through the middle of the bridge. I’m working on a fix to make the event detection more flexible — thank you for your patience and for bringing attention to it!
🌿 About the Curupira – You noticed his backward feet — great eye! That’s intentional and true to Brazilian folklore. The Curupira is a forest spirit who uses his reversed footprints to confuse hunters and invaders. He protects the forest by luring and disorienting those who try to exploit nature.
🧜♀️ About Iara – Iara is a powerful figure in Brazilian mythology, often described as a water spirit or mermaid who lures men with her beauty and song. But in Wings of Freedom, I reimagined her as a symbol of native resistance — not a seductress, but a protector and avenger of her people and the land.
🔥 The Boitatá (fiery serpent), the Boto (shape-shifting river dolphin), and the Curupira all represent forces of nature fighting back. Their alliance with Iara in the story is meant to express a rising ancestral power — one that comes from the myths, but responds directly to the very real exploitation and violence faced by indigenous communities today.
🌎 This game is a love letter to Brazilian culture, myth, and struggle — and also a critique of the hypocrisy of those who claim to protect the forest while secretly exploiting it. That includes outsiders who hide behind NGOs, shady royals in the jungle, and even locals who betray their roots.
Once again, thank you for playing, for the video, and for being part of this first step. More to come soon — Iara’s journey has only just begun.
